Happy Tuesday. Okay, I think I’ve left you all waiting long enough for the first of my artwork 🙂
Here is “Train of Thought Crossing the Imagination”, a recent 11 x 14 acrylic abstract I painted recently with almost record speed–we declared it a finished success only about halfway through a Sunday afternoon art session.
I started with the fiery rainbow isthmus like shape first along with blue on the top and bottom, not knowing at all where this would end up. I played with the color pattern a bit, doing many of the sort of abstract “fuzzifying” and such abstract tricks learned over five years of painting, but I wasn’t there yet.
The real life of this artwork took shape when I took a risk and started scrawling yellow lines on with the tip of my palette knife. At first I was sure I would regret it, but I did it anyways and soon it got me thinking “railroad layout”. Then a sort of maybe a lamp appeared, so I added sparks, more track layout, and stars in the sky. I did a little more abstract fuzzifying and decided it was done.
I still need to varnish it 🙂
